BROWNWOOD, Texas — With the game tied 5-5, the Sul Ross State baseball team rallied for seven runs in the final two innings to pull away with a 12-5 victory over the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets on Thursday afternoon at Don Shepard Park.

The game was scoreless until the top of the second when
Corbin Dube drew a two-out walk.
Alvaro Hernandez then hit an RBI double to right center to put the Lobos on the board.
Howard Payne tied things up in the bottom half of the second with a sacrifice fly.
Sul Ross State retaliated in the top of the third by scoring three runs on three hits while also taking advantage of two Howard Payne errors.
Carsen Thor highlighted the inning with a two-run home run.
Trailing 4-1, the Yellow Jackets scored a run on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Thor continued to stay hot at the plate as he made the score 5-2 in the top of the sixth with an RBI single through the left side that brought in
Brock Rodgers.
Howard Payne cut the deficit to two runs by scoring on another sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the sixth.
On three hits in the bottom of the seventh, Howard Payne tied up the score at 5-5 with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
As Rodgers led off the top of the eighth by reaching base after being hit by a pitch, Thor drove him in with a sacrifice fly to right to give the Lobos a 6-5 lead.
Sul Ross State tallied five hits in the big six-run frame during the top of the ninth.
Christian Garibay,
Primo Vasquez and
Ricardo Franco all had an RBI single.
Estevan Ortiz added to the inning by driving in a run on a groundout to second while Thor hit a two RBI triple to center.

- Sul Ross State tallied 16 hits.
- Thor had his 14th multi-hit game of the season by going 3 for 5 with a single, triple, home run and a season-high six RBI, just a double shy of the cycle.
- Hernandez went 3 for 5 with two singles, a double and an RBI.
- Ortiz finished 2 for 4 with a single, triple, a walk and an RBI.
- Vasquez also had a two-hit outing, finishing 2 for 6 with a pair of singles and an RBI.
- Jared Roiz had two singles and a walk to go 2 for 5.
- Dube went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.
- Garibay and Peyten Kennard each finished 1 for 5 with a single. Garibay also drove in one run.
- Gage Cobb tossed 6.2 innings with two strikeouts.
- Christian Loveless earned the win to improve to 3-2 after he allowed two hits and struck out one batter in 2.1 innings of relief.
