It was a wild and entertaining doubleheader Friday night at Kokernot Field.
The Sul Ross State baseball team was edged out in Game 1 by a score of 4-3 against the Concordia University Tornados.
Game 2 lasted three hours and 38 minutes as the Tornados outlasted the Lobos in 10 innings to notch the 13-11 victory.
>> GAME 1:
The game was scoreless until the top of the third when Chris Morrow hit a two RBI double to right center to put the Tornados on the board.
On a botched pick off by the pitcher, the Lobos made the score 2-1 as
Peyten Kennard scored on a bad throw in the bottom of the fourth.
Colby Christian hit a two-run home run to right center in the top of the seventh to give Concordia a three-run lead.
The Lobos attempted a rally in the bottom of the seventh as
Christopher Ulloa reached on a hit by pitch to start the inning.
Primo Vasquez drew a one-out walk while
Estevan Ortiz hit an RBI single down the left field line to cut the deficit to two runs.
Carsen Thor got the Lobos to within one run with an RBI single up the middle.

- The Lobos had 10 hits compared to the 11 tallied by Concordia.
- Ortiz went 3 for 4 with three singles and an RBI.
- Orlando Moreno finished 3 for 3 with three singles.

- Thor finished 1 for 4 with a single and an RBI.
- Kennard also went 1 for 4 with a single.
- Corbin Dube had a single to go 1 for 3.

Things started off well for the Lobos in the bottom of the first when Vasquez ripped a leadoff triple to right center.
Aaron Morales then hit an RBI double to right center. Thor followed up with an RBI single through the left side.
Thor later scored on a botched pickoff attempt by the pitcher. Dube added to the rally by hitting an RBI double to left center to put the Lobos on top 4-0.
On two hits, the Tornados got to within one run in the top of the fifth.
The Lobos extended their lead to 5-3 on an RBI single through the left side by Dube in the bottom of the sixth.
Concordia tied up the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh when Brandon Goynes scored after Kalen Clark grounded into a double play. Matthew Armes then hit an RBI single up the middle.
Sul Ross State answered back by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Thor hit a clutch two RBI double to left center.
Kennard later drove in Thor on a double to right center. The Lobos got their final run of the inning on an infield single to short by Dube to make the score 9-5.
Morrow cut the deficit to two for Concordia with a two-run home run to right in the top of the eighth.
The Tornados sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the ninth. Concordia got to within one run on an RBI groundout by Julian Swift.
Two runs then crossed the plate after a throwing error which gave the Tornados a 10-9 lead.
Morrow drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single to left.
Dube continued to stay hot at the plate as he hit an RBI single through the left side in the bottom of the ninth.
Kevin Potts later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 11-all.
Concordia scored twice in the top of the 10th with a sac fly to left and an RBI single by Aaron Gomez, which proved to be deciding factor in the game as the Lobos left a pair of runners stranded in the bottom half of the 10th.

- Kennard had a single, a double and an RBI to go 2 for 6.
- Moreno went 2 for 5 with two singles.
- Morales had a double to go 1 for 4 with a walk and an RBI.
- Jared Roiz, Alvaro Hernandez and Ortiz all went 1 for 5 with a single.
