On Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State baseball team suffered a 12-6 loss to the LeTourneau University Yellow Jackets at Kokernot Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
LeTourneau scored in the third with a solo home run and once more in the fourth on an RBI single to lead 2-0.
The Lobos were able to push across a run in the fifth when
Jared Roiz scored on a passed ball.
On three hits, the Yellow Jackets separated themselves by scoring five runs in the sixth. Dane Jones hit a two RBI double to help make the score 7-1.
The Lobos got a run in the seventh when
Aaron Morales belted a solo home run to right center.
LeTourneau answered back by scoring five runs in the top of the ninth. Jones hit a two-run home run during the frame to extend his team's lead to 10 runs.
Sul Ross State didn't want to go down quietly in the final inning.
Ricardo Franco and Roiz led off the bottom of the ninth with a pair of infield singles.
The Lobos then fell behind with two outs until Morales singled through the left side of the infield to drive in Franco.
Primo Vasquez later hit a two RBI double down the right field line.
Carsen Thor followed up with an RBI single up the middle to cut the deficit in half.

- The Lobos had 10 hits.
- Morales finished 2 for 4 with a single, home run, two RBI and a walk.
- Vasquez tallied two doubles to go 2 for 5 with two RBI.
- Thor hit a pair of singles to end up going 2 for 5 with an RBI.
- Thor went 9 for 14 during the three-game series with two home runs and four RBI.
- Thor leads the Lobos with 21 hits and a .438 average.
- Franco went 2 for 4 with two singles.
- Christopher Ulloa was walked twice while he singled in the third to go 1 for 2.
- Roiz finished 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
