Three Sul Ross State men's basketball players put up double-digit scoring figures, however the Lobos fell to the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets, 84-65, Thursday night at the Pete P. Gallego Center.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
There were nine lead changes in the first half.
Sul Ross State trailed by three with 11:50 on the clock until
Zyrin Brantley landed a jumper in the paint and then
Trey Nelson followed up with a three-pointer to put the Lobos on top by two.
LeTourneau tied up the score at 15-all before
Bryson Laird scored on a jumper to give Sul Ross State a two-point lead.
The Yellowjackets went on a 5-0 run to lead by three once again.
Hayden Peterson got the Lobos to within one with a layup at the 5:56 mark.
LeTourneau gradually pulled ahead with a six-point lead with another 5-0 run.
Manny Flores knocked down a three to cut the deficit in half.
The Lobos managed to get to within two after Laird made another shot in the paint and
Tyler Jackson landed one free throw with 2:38 to go.
Laird kept up his hot streak as cut the deficit to one with a three-pointer.
LeTourneau surged ahead late in the first half by going on an 11-0 run to take a 12-point lead into the locker room.
The Yellowjackets led by as much as 21 in the second half after outscoring Sul Ross State, 44-37.

- Gabe Sanchez led the Lobos with 21 points while he grabbed four rebounds. All 21 points were scored in the second half.
- Jackson added with 20 points and six rebounds.

- Sul Ross State grabbed 27 rebounds. Flores tallied six boards.
- The Lobos shot 13 for 18 from the free throw line. Jackson and Sanchez combined to go 12 for 16 from the charity stripe.
- Sul Ross State made six 3-pointers as Sanchez had three.
- The Yellowjackets knocked down 10 three-pointers while shooting 14 for 14 from the free throw line.
