On a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State baseball team suffered an 11-3 loss to the Southwestern University Pirates at Kokernot Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lobos trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the first when
Primo Vasquez hit a leadoff double. After
Estevan Ortiz pushed Vasquez to third on a bunt,
Aaron Morales hit an infield RBI single.
Southwestern scored three runs in the top of the second on two hits to extend the lead to 5-1.
The Pirates used the long ball in the fifth when they got a leadoff solo home run and a two-run home run to make the score 8-1.
Southwestern hit two home runs in the eighth to extend the lead to 10 runs.
Sul Ross State pushed across its final two runs when Morales hit a two-run home run to right center in the bottom of the eighth.

>> GAME NOTES:
- The Lobos tallied eight hits.
- Morales went 3 for 4 with two singles, a home run and three RBI.
- Christopher Ulloa hit a triple to go 1 for 3 with a walk.
- Vasquez finished 1 for 4 with the double and a walk.
- Ortiz and Carsen Thor each went 1 for 3 with a single.
- Steven Mills had a pinch-hit single to left in the ninth.
