EL PASO, Texas — In front of a crowd of 4,055 at the Don Haskins Center, the Sul Ross State men's basketball team opened up its season against the UTEP Miners for an exhibition.
Cam Clardy had a big game against his former school, scoring 19 points to lead the Lobos.
Ultimately, UTEP came out on top, 102-55.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
UTEP began the game leading 4-0 until Clardy scored the first bucket of the game with a jump shot.
The Miners extended their lead to 12 with 15:17 to go in the first half.
Clardy hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to nine. Later on,
Myles Amason made a layup to get the Lobos to within eight at the 11:47 mark.
UTEP had led by 20 with 6:07 on the clock, but the Lobos went on a 10-0 run beginning with two shots in the paint by
Cailean Ables.
Louie Yebra then hit a three-pointer that was followed up by a fast break layup by
Bryce Harris to cut the deficit down to 11.
But the Miners ended up finishing off on a big run to extend their lead to 23 at the break.
Clardy had 10 points in the first half while Harris had five points.
Ethan Yancy grabbed five rebounds while Harris had three.

- Harris finished with nine points and four rebounds.
- Yancy, Yebra and Amason each tallied five points. Yancy had a team-high seven rebounds.
- Deon Brown and Ables both finished with four points.
- The Lobos knocked down four 3-pointers while they shot 15 for 21 from the free throw line.
- Sul Ross State finished with 30 rebounds, with 23 coming on the defensive end.
- The Lobos had five steals as Kameron Hedge came away with two.
