LAREDO, Texas — On Friday night during the second-to-last game of the regular season, the Sul Ross State volleyball team suffered a sweep to the Texas A&M International Dustdevils at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
There were six lead changes to start the opening set until the Lobos went on a 6-0 run to lead 11-6.
Natalie Hernandez had a kill while
Brylee Sweeten served up an ace during the run.
Texas A&M International then went off on an 8-0 run to flip the script by taking a 16-12 lead. The Dustdevils later used a 5-0 run to gain some more breathing room.
The second set began with eight lead changes until the Lobos pulled away for a three-point lead.
Texas A&M International later gained a two-point lead by going on a 5-0 run.
The Dustdevils never trailed again to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
Sul Ross State used a 4-0 run to take a 5-2 lead early in the third set. Hernandez had a service ace while
Cassandra Espinoza tallied a kill.
Texas A&M International went on a 6-0 run to lead 10-8. The Lobos then scored four unanswered points to gain a two-point lead.
Edie Coleman, Hernandez and Espinoza all had kills during the run.
The Lobos held a four-point lead after a kill by
Anna Kasper.
Texas A&M International responded with four unanswered points to tie the score at 18-all.
The score was tied four times down the stretch until the Dustdevils pulled away late with a 2-0 run to secure the sweep.

- Hernandez led the way with seven kills and six digs.
- Kasper had five kills and four digs.
- Coleman, Espinoza and Sarah Chavez all had four kills each.
- Sweeten finished with 11 assists and six digs.
- Eliana Mata added with 10 assists.
- Miranda Acosta tallied nine digs.
