LUBBOCK, Texas — The Sul Ross State volleyball team suffered a sweep to Lubbock Christian University on Saturday afternoon at the Rip Griffin Center.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lobos trailed 16-8 in the middle of the first set after
Cassandra Espinoza tallied a kill.
Sul Ross State cut the deficit to five points after a service ace by
Tatyana Colon and a kill from
Anna Kasper, but Lubbock Christian closed out the set on a 5-0 run to take the 1-0 lead in the match.
Lubbock Christian held a 17-9 lead during the second set.
With some kills by Espinoza,
Angelli Sanchez and
Natalie Hernandez, the Lobos got to within three points.
Lubbock Christian finished out the set with a 3-0 run to take a 2-0 lead.
During the third set, Lubbock Christian used a 13-0 run to extend their lead to 12 points.

- Sanchez led the Lobos with seven kills.
- Kasper finished with five kills while Espinoza and Edie Coleman had four.
- Eliana Mata tallied 10 assists and eight digs.
- Espinoza also had eight digs on the defensive side.
- Colon served up two aces.
