IRVING, Texas — Leading the match 2-0, the Sul Ross State volleyball team came up short in a five-set match on Saturday afternoon against the University of Dallas at the Maher Center.

In the opening set, the Lobos led by as much as eight points.
The University of Dallas held a 1-0 lead before the Lobos took control by taking a 15-8 lead after a kill from
Daniella Garcia.
Sul Ross State used a pair of 4-0 runs to separate itself from the Crusaders.
Cassandra Espinoza dealt the final kill to help the Lobos win Game 1, 25-18.
It was a different situation in Game 2 as the Lobos had to overcome a seven-point deficit in the middle of the set.
The Lobos went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 14-all.
Daniella Garcia and
Loren Garcia each had two kills during the offensive spree while
Tatyana Colon served up two aces.
The lead changed seven different times before the Lobos closed out the set with a 3-0 run to secure the win.
The third set featured four different lead changes before the Crusaders surged ahead to a nine-point lead to avoid the sweep.
After seven different lead changes in the fourth set, the Crusaders squeezed out a 25-23 victory to force a pivotal fifth set.
Sul Ross State opened up the final set with a kill from
Loren Garcia. The Lobos held a 3-1 lead before the University of Dallas used a 5-0 run to eventually pull away with the victory.
