AUSTIN — Sitting tied for fourth place entering Friday's doubleheader with Concordia University, every series matters for the Sul Ross State baseball team.
The Lobos overcame an early three-run deficit to take Game 1, 5-4, at Gardner-Boggs Field.
In Game 2, Sul Ross was held to four hits as the Tornados evened up the series with a 4-0 victory.

The Lobos tied up the game at 3-3 in the top of the second.
Peyten Kennard hit a one-out RBI double to drive in
Aaron Morales.
Estevan Ortiz then hit an RBI single while
Primo Vasquez drove in Ortiz with a single to center.
Sul Ross pushed across two more runs in the third when Morales brought in
Carsen Thor with a ground out to second and Kennard drove in
Tye Lindsey with a sacrifice fly to right.
The Lobos had 10 hits.
Thor finished 2 for 4 with a pair of singles while Vasquez was walked twice to go 1 for 2 with a single and an RBI.
Kennard drove in two runs to go 1 for 2 with a double. Lindsey tallied a double in the third to finish 1 for 4.
Jared Roiz,
Tristan Karels and
Orlando Moreno each finished 1 for 4 with a single.
Morales went 1 for 3 with a single, walk and an RBI while Ortiz also finished 1 for 3 with a single and an RBI.
Chris Ibanez improved his record on the mound to 3-3 after he threw five innings allowing three earned runs while he struck out two batters.
Cade Watson faced six batters in one inning as he allowed one hit and one earned run.
Ian Craigie tallied his fourth save of the year. Craigie fanned three batters and did not allow a single hit in one inning of work.

It was a classic pitching duel during the nightcap.
Concordia was held to five-straight scoreless innings before scoring two runs in the sixth and two runs in the eighth to walk away with the win.
Vasquez and Karels each went 1 for 4 with a single.
Lee Kubosh tallied a single in the top of the second to go 1 for 3 while
Mateo Saenz finished 1 for 2 with a single.
Gage Cobb tossed a three-hitter in five innings of work while he allowed one earned run and fanned three batters.
Connor Archer struck out two batters in 2.1 innings.
Christian Loveless faced two batters in 0.2 innings.
