Riding high on a four-game winning streak, the Sul Ross State men's basketball team was hoping to continue the run Monday night with Schreiner University coming into the Pete P. Gallego Center.
The Lobos held a nine-point lead in the first half, but they ended up falling to the Mountaineers, 76-56.

After five ties in the score early in the first half, the Lobos pulled away using a 7-0 run that was sparked by a three-pointer from
Gabe Sanchez.
Tyler Jackson later landed a layup with 8:42 on the clock to make the score, 22-13, in favor of Sul Ross State.
Schreiner began to slowly chip away as it used a 4-0 run to trail by four with six minutes left in the half.
Sanchez put the Lobos ahead by six with a layup, but the Mountaineers used a layup and a three to trail by one.
The Mountaineers used a 6-0 run to end the half to take a seven-point lead into the locker room at the break.
Schreiner went on to outscore the Lobos, 40-27, in the second half.

- Sanchez led the way with 16 points and four rebounds.
- Jackson added with 14 points, two blocks and seven boards.
- Trey Nelson and Bryce Harris each finished with six points. The duo grabbed six rebounds and tallied three assists.
- The Lobos shot 6 for 9 from the free throw line.
- Sul Ross State grabbed 37 rebounds compared to Schreiner's 48.
- Schreiner entered the contest averaging 89 points per game.
