Lobos cruise past Belhaven, 91-59

ALPINE, Texas - Julian Paredes scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season in a 91-59 Thursday night win over Belhaven.

"First off, our student section was rocking tonight," said head coach Xavier Webb. "Our guys fed off that energy. It was good to see us put together a complete game and get over the hump. We told our guys to 'Cowboy Up! When the going gets tough, the tough get going.' That was something I was told all the time growing up. Now we need to get ready to roll again against a very physical and talented ETBU team on Saturday. We'll need those Gallego Goons to rally for us again!"

First Half
Julian Paredes started with a triple and Logan Dixon later made a layup for a 5-0 lead out of the gate. After a Belhaven jumper, the Lobos went on a 13-0 run. Paredes scored eight with a pair of threes and a jumper. The run started with a Trey Nelson jumper and finished with a Gabe Sanchez triple for an 18-2 advantage. The Blazers cut it to three with a 20-7 run but quickly fell behind 35-22 with a 10-0 Sully answer with under three minutes left. Belhaven got it back to 10 before the Lobos finished the half with a 7-2 run for a 42-27 score at the break.

Second Half
Sully's largest lead of 18 came after a Dixon free throw and Omar Ibarra layup for a 45-27 lead. Ibarra had a great start to the second half, later hitting a triple to again put the Lobos up 48-30. Up 16, Sully took control with an 18-0 run to lead 72-38 with just under 11 minutes remaining. The Lobos kept their tempo throughout, never letting the Blazers within 24 again in what ended as a 91-59 win.

Stats
Paredes matched a game-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 4-of-6 from three. His 10 rebounds came with a pair of assists and steals.

Sanchez also had 18 points on 6-of-9 from three.

Nelson scored 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He added five rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Dixon finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The Lobos end a three-game losing streak to move to 7-13 and 4-11 in conference. Belhaven falls to 6-8 and 4-7.
