Lobos slide past McMurry with 10-7 win #SRSU | #ASCbsb | #d3b

ABILENE, Texas - Sam Russell's complete game with 11 strikeouts paired with Jared Lorenz's 4-for-5 night with five RBI helped the Lobos to a 10-7 win over McMurry on Friday night in game one of the series.

Lorenz started scoring off with a double in the top of the second to plate Tye Lindsey for a 1-0 advantage.

McMurry tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second before taking the lead with another run in the same inning for a 2-1 score.

Jorge Marquez tied the game 2-2 in the top of the third with an RBI single that brought in Ashton Leech. After Marquez stole second, Carsen Thor reached on a fielder's choice that scored Marquez after a throwing error for a 3-2 lead. Lorenz stepped in after a Richard Bailey single and hit a three-run shot to left field for a 6-2 lead going bottom three.

The War Hawks cut it to one with a three-run home run of their own in the third for a 6-5 score. They went on to tie the game in the inning with a triple to make it 6-6.

It remained 6-6 until Lorenz scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth for a 7-6 advantage.

McMurry answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run for a 7-7 tie.

Tye Lindsey broke the tie in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Marquez for an 8-7 lead. Bailey then singled before Lorenz doubled him home for a 9-7 advantage. Jett Hartley then singled home Lorenz for a three-run lead.

Russell was masterful over the last three innings with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed to help guide the Lobos to a 10-7 win over the War Hawks.

Lorenz's four-hit, five-RBI night also came with three runs scored.

Leech, Marquez, Bailey, Hartley, and Aleman each had two hits.

Russell picked up his third win of the season after nine innings of three-earned run ball with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

The Lobos improve to 10-18 (7-15 ASC). McMurry falls to 9-22 (5-17 ASC).
