ALPINE, Texas - Baseball got out to an early lead, but the Cowboys of Hardin-Simmons came back for a 13-11 win over the Lobos on Friday night at Kokernot field.

Carsen Thor gave Sully the lead in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI double that scored Jalen Benton and Jared Lorenz for a 2-1 advantage.

After a scoreless second from starter Isaiah Moya, the Lobos tagged the Cowboys for seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Benton extended the lead to three with a two-run shot to left field to score himself and Hartley. Jorge Marquez later tripled home Lorenz before Thor singled in Marquez for a 6-1 lead. Richard Bailey later sent a three-run home run to left, scoring Thor and Tye Lindsey for a 9-1 lead after two innings.

The Cowboys answered back in the top of the third with six runs to cut it to 9-7. Sully was sent away scoreless in the bottom of the inning to keep that score going to the fourth.

Moya settled back in with a scoreless top of the fourth and Matthew Wheeler brought in Thor and Bailey on a double in the bottom of the inning for an 11-7 lead.

HSU crept closer with three runs in the fifth for a slim 11-10 Sully lead.
