ALPINE, Texas - Softball remained unbeaten on the season with a 10-6 win to sweep UT Dallas on Saturday morning at Lobo Field.
Annika Canaba got the Lobos on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single that scored
Camryn Hardin for a 1-0 lead that continued into the third.
The Comets put up four runs in the top of the third to lead 4-1.
Payslee Sims singled home Hardin in the bottom of the inning to make it a 4-2 deficit going to the fourth.
Sully tied the game in the fourth on a two-run single by
Mary Villarreal that scored
Miranda Martinez and
Marley Moralez. Hardin later stepped in and sent a two-run home run to right for a 6-4 lead.
Martinez hit a two-run shot in the fifth before Valverde singled home Hardin in the sixth.
Halie Guillen came around to score on the same single due to a fielding error by the center fielder for a 10-4 score going to the seventh.
UTD put up a fight in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs, but
Jodie Vaughn closed the door for a 10-6 win.
Vaughn entered the game in relief and picked up the win to move to 3-0. She threw 4.2 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Hardin finished 4-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with four runs scored and two runs batted in the with the home run.
Martinez also finished with two RBI on a pair of hits and scored twice.
The Lobos improve to 5-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. UTD falls to 1-10 and 1-5.
Sully next heads to Pineville, LA to start a series against Louisiana College on Friday, March 19.
