Lobos bested in Friday doubleheader before picking up Saturday win to avoid sweep against Ozarks #SRSU | #ASCbsb | #d3b

ALPINE, Texas - Baseball fell in both games of a Friday doubleheader but avoided the sweep with a nail-biting Saturday victory against University of the Ozarks.

Friday, February 26
Game One: Eagles 9 - Lobos 1 (7 innings)

Ozarks came out strong out of the gate with four runs in the top of the first to take the lead.

Isaac Aleman plated Tristan Karels on an RBI single to center for a 4-1 score in the bottom of the second.

Ozarks proceeded to score another five runs and shutout the Lobos the rest of the way in a 9-1 win.

Starter Sam Russell was tagged with the loss after throwing three innings.

Game Two: Eagles 13 - Lobos 3

The Eagles again started quickly with five runs in the top of the first and another in the second for a 6-0 lead after two.

Jorge Marquez stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and deposited a solo shot over the right field wall for a 6-1 score.

Ozarks added seven more runs over the next four innings for a 13-1 lead in the eighth.

Tye Lindsey brought in a pair with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Jared Lorenz and Carsen Thor for a 13-3 score that eventually went final.

Isaac Gallego shouldered the loss after going six innings with. He gave up eight runs, three earned on eight hits, walked six, and had four strikeouts.

Saturday, February 27
Game Three: Lobos 12 - Eagles 11

The Eagles picked up where they left off Friday, scoring five runs over the first four innings.

Richard Bailey doubled home Lindsey and Matt Wheeler in the bottom of the fourth to cut it to 5-2 going top five.

After holding the Eagles scoreless in the top of the fifth, Carsen Thor unloaded a three-run shot to left field for a 6-5 lead. Marquez and Tyler Tupper came around to score on the home run.

Ozarks came back with a pair in the top of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead.

Sully responded with two in the bottom of the sixth on a Tupper single that scored Aleman and a Marquez double that plated Tupper for an 8-7 advantage.

The Eagles quickly tied the game in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly to right for an 8-8 score.

Bailey broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run shot to left field scoreboard. Lindsey score on the home run for a 10-8 lead.

No lead was safe through the first seven innings and the eighth proved to be the same. Ozarks tied things on an rbi single and a throwing error for a 10-10 tie going bottom eight.

Lorenz stepped up with Marquez on third and singled to center to take an 11-10 advantage.

Justin Holt took the mound in the top of the ninth and was able to close the door on the Eagles for an 11-10 win to avoid the sweep.

Bailey finished the third game 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.

Marquez was 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Lindsey added three hits and a pair of runs.

Chris Ibanez picked up his first win of the season after throwing a third of an inning scoreless with a strikeout.

The Lobos finished the series with an overall record of 3-2 and 1-2 in conference play. Ozarks is 3-2 and 2-1.

Sully next heads to Richardson for a doubleheader on Friday, March 5 to start a three-game set against UT Dallas.
