RICHARDSON, Texas - Baseball didn't have an easy go of it against UT Dallas over the weekend, dropping all three games played between Friday and Saturday.
Friday, March 5
Game One: Comets 4 - Lobos 3 (7 innings)
The Lobos put up the first two runs of the game with a two-run shot by
Jacob Ochoa in the top of the second that also scored
Adrian Munoz.
Starter
Sam Russell pitched strong in his third outing of the season, taking the two-run lead to the top of the fifth when
Ashton Leech doubled home
Jett Hartley for a 3-0 lead that went into the sixth.
It was the sixth that proved costly for the Lobos as the Comets were able to put up for runs to take a 4-3 lead and eventually the win by the same score.
Justin Holt was saddled with the loss in relief.
Russell went 5.2 innings on three hits. He surrendered three runs, struck out four and walked three.
Game Two: Comets 12 - Lobos 2
The Comets were first out of the gate in game two of the doubleheader with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Isaac Aleman tied things in the top of the second when he doubled home Peyton Kennard and
Matthew Wheeler for a 2-2 game.
Things unraveled for the Lobos from there as they were outscored 10-0 by the Comets the rest of the way and fell 12-2 in nine innings.

Saturday, March 6
Game Three: Comets 16 - Lobos 6 (8 innings)
Game three of the series on Saturday wouldn't see a run until UTD got on the board in the bottom of the third for a 1-0 lead.
Jared Lorenz tied things in the top of the fourth with a solo shot to left field for a 1-1 game.
Starter
Isaiah Moya pitched a strong six innings, surrendering just one run on two hits and struck out four.
His offense rewarded him for his strong performance in the top of the sixth with four runs.
Tye Lindsey brought in Lorenz with a sacrifice fly before
Richard Bailey crushed a three-run home run to left field that scored Wheeler and Munoz for a 5-1 lead.
After Moya shutout the Comets in the sixth, Benton came around to score on a throwing error in the top of the seventh for a 6-1 lead.
With Moya done after six, the Lobos turned to the bullpen to hold the lead. That proved to be a tough task as the Comets came alive in the bottom of the seventh with a 14-run inning for a 15-6 lead. They'd add one more in the eighth for a 16-6 win after eight innings.
Jaden Guerrero was saddled with the loss out of the bullpen.
The Lobos fall to 3-5 on the season and 1-5 in conference. UTD improves to 6-1 and 5-1.
Sully now prepares for a non-conference series against Trinity University. They'll play three games over three days between Friday, March 12 and Sunday, March 14 at Kokernot Field.
