MARSHALL, Texas - Men's hoops kept it tight with East Texas Baptist through most of the game but ultimately fell 87-69.
First Half
Sully's first lead of the game came after a
Julian Paredes triple for a 15-13 advantage. It was short-lived, as the Tigers scored the next five and eventually took a 35-21 advantage. The Lobos got it to as close as seven late in the first half before going to the break down 43-34.
Second Half
Trey Nelson cut it to seven with a layup to open the half. Down 11,
Jake Lopez hit a triple and then a jumper to make it 47-41. The Tigers upped it back to 12 but saw it trimmed to five with six unanswered. Nelson started with a triple before
Logan Dixon contributed back-to-back buckets. Paredes then made a layup for a 53-50 game not even midway through the second half. The Lobos got to within one at 59-58 on a layup from Dixon and eventually tied it 61-61 on a Paredes free throw with just under 10 minutes left. ETBU took the lead back with a layup and held it from there, outscoring the Lobos 16-8 down the stretch in the 87-69 win.
Stats
Nelson led the Lobos with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, adding a team-high six assists.
Paredes finished with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Dixon was also in double digits with 15 points.
Sully drops 4-6 and 2-4 in ASC play. The Tigers improve to 3-6 and 1-3.
The Lobos next play Belhaven on Saturday in Jackson, MS.
