ALPINE, Texas - Women's hoops came away with a 59-43 win over Southwestern on day one of the Sul Ross Fall Classic at the Gallego Center.

"It was not our best shooting night, but our hustle on defense really gave us the energy down the stretch that we needed!" said head coach Katie Novak. "Cassie Hogan was a fantastic spark off the bench and helped everyone increase the intensity on defense. We're looking forward to a quick turnaround and getting our home floor again tomorrow!"

First Quarter
The Pirates opened with the first five of the game and held the lead through the first until Keona Loftis knocked down a three before an Alexis Carmosino layup finished the first with an 11-11 tie.

Second Quarter
Sully's first lead came on a Cassie Hogan layup to open the second. Their largest lead was three and came on three occasions with the last coming on another Hogan layup for a 26-23 lead at the half.

Third Quarter
Vania Hampton opened the second half with a jumper to open a five-point lead. Southwestern answered with a 5-0 run to tie it before the Lobos finished the third on a 12-0 run. Both Carmosino and Quintana added four with two each coming from Marley Rokas and Alyssa Ramlochan for a 40-28 lead going to the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Sully continued to hold at least a 10-point lead and eventually upped it to 19 with an 8-0 run. Hampton added the first six before Ashley Nunez finished with a layup for a 57-38 advantage with under two minutes left. The lead remained secure the rest of the way for the Lobos for an eventual 59-43 win.

Hampton finished with a game-high 10 points with Quintana right behind with nine.

Ramlochan and Rokas each finished with a team-best eight rebounds.

The Lobos improve to 3-1 on the season. Southwestern falls to 2-4.

Sully finishes the Fall Classic tomorrow against Texas Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. at the Gallego Center.
