ABILENE, Texas - Volleyball finished their Abilene road trip on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of Hardin-Simmons.
It is the second time this season the Lobos have swept the Cowgirls.
"I am so proud of this team and how we bounced back from last night," said head coach
Troy Canaba. "They were on a mission today and our defense was on point!"

Set 1:
Daniella Garcia and
Annika Canaba got Sully going first with back-to-back kills for a 2-0 lead. Canaba notched her second kill of the set after an HPU point to go ahead 3-1. The Lobos then upped their lead to 5-2 with a kill from
Isabella Ruiz and a service ace from
Tatyana Colon.
HSU got it to a 10-10 tie with the start of a 6-1 run that eventually gave them a 13-11 advantage.
Sully responded quickly with a 7-1 run for an 18-14 lead. Canaba and
Mia Bella Ruiz added kills and the run also saw a combined three aces with two from Colon and one from Canaba.
The Cowgirls tied the set late with a 6-2 run for a 21-21 score.
Back-to-back attack errors from HSU gave the Lobos a 23-21 lead and they were able to hold on for a 25-23 win solidified by a Canaba kill to take the opening set.
Set 2:
HSU opened the second set with the first two points before a
Kamrynn Caruth kill paired with two from
Loren Garcia for a 3-2 lead.
Sully later upped their lead to seven with an 11-2 run. It saw two kills from
Daniella Garcia, one each from
Mia Bella Ruiz and
Taryn Griner and a pair of aces from Ruiz for a 13-6 advantage. The run finished with back-to-back kills from Canaba and
Loren Garcia to lead 16-7.
The Lobos controlled the pace the rest of the set by never allowing HSU to get within seven and taking it by a 25-14 score.
Set 3:
The Cowgirls started with the first three points until
Loren Garcia's kill led to a Caruth ace to trail 3-2.
Down 4-2, a service error and a ball handling error tied the match before
Faith Herrera's service ace gave Sully a 5-4 advantage.
The Lobos upped their lead to 7-5 with Canaba and Caruth kills but quickly flipped to a 9-7 deficit with a 4-0 HSU answer.
It was either a slim lead for the Cowgirls or tied until
Loren Garcia's kill and an attack error gave Sully a 14-13 advantage.
The Lobos then continued to lead or it was tied until Sully broke it open with a 7-2 run to lead 23-18.
Daniella Garcia got it to match point with a kill that was followed by an HSU attack error for a 25-19 win and sweep of the match for the Lobos.
Canaba finished with a game-high 14 kills, adding 13 assists and eight digs.
Caruth was tied for a game-best 19 assists and added six digs.
Herrera was also in double digits with 10 digs and had six assists.
Sully improves to 12-7 on the season and 8-5 in the ASC. The Cowgirls fall to 7-8 and 6-8.
The Lobos will next play at home on Tuesday, October 19 against Howard Payne at the Gallego Center.
