ALPINE, Texas - Women's basketball hung in throughout against the undefeated Tigers before ultimately falling by 11 on Thursday at the Gallego Center.
Vania Hampton gave Sully its first lead of the game on a triple for a 3-2 lead just a minute into the contest.
The Tigers responded with a quick 5-0 run for a 7-3 lead.
Kaylee Martinez ended ETBU's answer to cut it to two midway through the first quarter.
The Tigers came back with three before the Lobos ended the first quarter with the next five on a Martinez layup and
Alexis Carmosino triple for a 10-10 tie heading to the second.
Sully opened the second on a 5-0 run with a Hampton jumper,
Ashley Nunez free throw, and finally a Hampton layup for a 15-10 lead with just under 7:00 left.
The latter part of the second quarter proved to be Sully's foil as ETBU went on a 16-3 run to take a 26-18 lead to the break.
A 6-0 run for the Tigers over the first 2:30 of the third put them ahead 32-18.
The Lobos were only able to cut it to 10 in the quarter as ETBU outscored them 17-13 to take a 43-32 advantage to the fourth.
Sully used the first three minutes of the final quarter on a 8-5 run to trim the deficit to eight. Nunez and
Teresa Quintana each knocked down a triple to go with a pair of Hampton free throws.
After a Tigers jumper extended it back to 11, Nunez connected on another three-pointer to cut it to eight. Martinez later added a layup before a Carmosino jumper and Hampton triple ended a 10-5 run for a 51-47 score halfway through the fourth.
Sully was able to remain within single digits over the next few minutes, but ETBU climbed to a 10-point lead with just over a minute left before finishing with a 68-57 victory.
Hampton led all scorers with 19 points and finished with a team-high nine rebounds.
Nunez was also in double digits with 10 points and boarded five.
The Lobos fall to 4-9 on the season and are even in conference play with a 2-2 record. The Tigers remain perfect at 13-0 and 5-0.
With Saturday's home game against LeTourneau canceled, Sully next travels to Clarksville, AR for a Thursday, January 28 battle with University of the Ozarks.
