CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - Women's basketball showed University of the Ozarks what a high-powered offense looks like on Thursday in an 81-49 triumph for the Lobos.
Vania Hampton scored the first six points of the game as part of a 9-0 run.
Keona Loftis finished the opening streak with a layup and free throw after the foul for a nine-point lead just under four minutes in.
Sully's first double-digit lead came on a
Teresa Quintana triple for a 12-2 score with just over five minutes remaining in the opening quarter.
After the Eagles cut it to eight,
Kaylee Martinez converted back-to-back buckets to start a 12-0 run that lasted the length of the quarter. The run saw triples from
Alexis Carmosino and Quintana before Hampton finished with a layup for a 24-4 score after the first.
Ozarks used the first minutes of the second to trim it to 15.
The largest lead the Lobos had again in the first half came at 6:53 on a jumper from Loftis for a 29-11 advantage.
The Eagles responded with a small 5-0 run to slim their deficit to 14 with just under four minutes left before the break.
Sully finished the second on a 6-2 run started by a triple from Quintana. Hampton later sank a jumper and Carmosino finished first half scoring with a free throw for a 35-18 lead at intermission.
Loftis and Quintana opened the second half with back-to-back triples for a 23-point lead at 8:33.
Ozarks came back with a quick four unanswered but saw their deficit expand to 27 after an 8-0 run for the Lobos. Quintana again knocked down a three-pointer to start. Hampton and Martinez then converted layups. Martinez was fouled on the make and sank the free throw for a 49-22 lead at 6:06.
The Eagles were able to cut it back to 20 on two occasions before Sully finished the third quarter on a 6-1 run for a 57-33 lead heading to the fourth.
Ashely Roberts knocked down the first bucket of the final quarter to start a 10-0 run for a 34-point advantage at 8:01. Quintana contributed yet another triple and a jumper. Hampton's hot hand remained as she sank a pair of jumpers to lead 67-33.
Ozarks was able to cut it to 30 a handful of times over the rest of the fourth, but the Lobos offense never ceased to lead the way for the 81-49 win.
Quintana finished with a career-high 20 points with four assists and three steals.
Hampton contributed 19 and a game-high nine rebounds. She also added four assists and three steals.
Carmosino was also in double digits with 10 points.
Quintana and Hampton shot a combined 16-of-26 from the field while Quintana shot 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Sully improves to 5-9 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. The Eagles fall to 0-7 and 0-7.
With Saturday's road game against UT Dallas canceled, the Lobos next host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, February 4 at the Gallego Center.
