RICHARDSON, Texas - After last night's career-high 35-point performance,
Tristen Licon's game-high 21 wasn't enough Wednesday in a 67-63 loss to UT Dallas in Richardson.
Down 6-3 early, a
Logan Dixon layup and
Caelyb Kerley triple put the Lobos ahead 8-6 at the 14:53 mark of the first.
Sully held the lead for the next 1:59 before the Comets tied the game at 10-10 for the start of a 12-4 run and 19-14 advantage at 9:36.
Licon came back with a triple, but UT Dallas responded with a 10-0 run over the next 4:01 to go ahead 29-17 with 4:01 before the break.
The Lobos were able to chip away with an 11-5 run the rest of the half for a 34-28 deficit heading to intermission.
Dixon started second half scoring with a layup to cut it to four, but the Comets led by as many as eight on two occasions until pair of free throws from Licon and a
Carson Perkins three-pointer made it a 48-46 score at 12:27.
UTD immediately upped their lead to seven and grew it to 10 at 8:38 as part of a 13-5 stretch.
Sully never backed down and trimmed it to two with a 10-2 run over the next 6:02. Licon first hit one from beyond the arc to cut it to seven. After a jumper from the Comets, Licon nailed another triple before
Jake Lopez converted a layup. Dixon later hit a pair of free throws for a slim 63-61 UTD lead with 2:32 remaining.
The Comets made a layup with 1:26 left for a four-point lead and didn't allow another point until two Dixon free throws with seven seconds left.
UTD went to the line with five seconds remaining and hit a pair for a 67-63 lead and the eventual win.
Licon also had a team-high 10 rebounds, shot a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, and was 3-5 from beyond the arc.
Dixon added 15 points and four rebounds.
Perkins posted his second straight double-digit performance with 10 points on 4-9 shooting.
