Tristen Licon's 29-point, 11 rebound performance helped pave the way for an 87-73 win Saturday over Belhaven at the Gallego Center.
Sully's first lead came at 16:23 on a
Tristen Licon three-pointer to make it 7-5.
Tied 10-10, the Lobos amassed a 19-3 run to take a 16-point lead at 7:30. Six different players scored during the run with
Brayden Fry going high for two big dunks and
Cole Avery adding six on a pair of triples.
Sully held at least a 12-point advantage the remainder of the half and took a 37-23 lead to break.
The Lobos held a double-digit lead for nearly the first five minutes of the second half until the Blazers went on a 7-0 run for a 48-46 Sully lead at 15:02.
Licon and Avery responded with three-pointers for a quick 6-0 run to go up 12 with 13:32 remaining.
Belhaven again crept to within single digits, 57-49, at 12:35.
Sully answered with an 11-2 run for a 68-51 lead at the 7:26 mark. Six different Lobos again scored during the run with Licon finishing it with a triple.
Sully's largest lead of the game came after a pair of
Logan Dixon free throws for a 75-56 advantage with 5:40 remaining.
B.J. Hollis again made it a 19-point lead with 3:49 left.
The Blazers attempted to make it a game late with a 9-0 run for an 81-71 score at the 2:09 mark.
The Lobos finished the game scoring six of the final eight for an 87-73 win.
Licon totaled game-highs with 29 points and 11 rebounds to notch his second-straight double-double and third of the season. He shot 9-14 from the field and 5-6 from three.
Dixon added 11 points on 7-8 from the free throw line and five rebounds.
Fry scored 10 and added eight rebounds.
Sully evens their season record to 6-6 and 3-0 in ASC play. Belhaven dips to 4-7 and 1-1.
The Lobos now prepare for an ASC clash with Hardin-Simmons Thursday, January 9 in Abilene.
