SHERMAN- Women's volleyball earned a split Friday during day one of the Austin College Invitational in Sherman. Sully defeated Paul Quinn College 3-1 before a 3-0 loss to host Austin College.

After falling 25-16 in set one, the Lady Lobos rattled off 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21 wins to take the match 3-1.

Down 1-0 in set two, the Lady Lobos went on a 5-0 run that included two service aces by Jordan Scherer. 

Sully would continue their second set success with a short 3-0 run to go up 11-3 before a 4-0 put them up 15-5.

The Tigers would close to gap to six two different times before the Lady Lobos ended on a 9-3 run to win 25-14 in set two.

Annika Canaba led all Lady Lobos with six kills.

Sully led early in the third set 4-2 off a kill by Isabella Ruiz. 

A 7-2 Tigers run flipped the script 9-6 in favor of Paul Quinn before the Lady Lobos mounted a 7-0 run that included two kills by Scherer to take a 14-9 lead. 

The Lady Lobos controlled the pace from there as Autumn Kilpatrick finished the set with a kill to win 25-16 in set three.

Asher Haack started set four with a kill before a 3-0 Tigers run gave them their first lead.

Canaba racked up two more kills on a quick 4-0 run to put the Lady Lobos back up 4-3.

Leading 8-6, the Tigers would go on their own 4-0 run to lead 10-8.

Scherer put that Lady Lobos back up 11-10 on a kill before a 6-0 run put the Tigers ahead 16-11.

The Lady Lobos next lead wouldn't come until 18-17 off a 4-0 run that included two service aces from Kylee Davis.

There would be two more ties in set four before a 5-0 run that included three kills from Canaba put the Lady Lobos up 24-19.

Canaba's eighth kill of the set sealed the deal for the Lady Lobos with a 25-21 win to take the match 3-1.

Canaba led all Lady Lobos 21 kills. Scherer was also in double digits with 12.

Davis had a team-high 28 assists while Hannah Zly led defenders with 17 digs.
 

AC 3 - SRSU 0

The Lady Lobos kept is close in set one but ultimately fell 25-21.

The 'Roos completed the sweep with 25-17 and and 25-13 wins in sets two and three.

Canaba led Lady Lobos in kills again with 10 and also 10 digs. Zly notched 12 digs for the match.

The Lady Lobos conclude the Austin College Invitational Saturday with matches against Paul Quinn at 11:00 a.m. and Austin College at 1:00 p.m. in Sherman.
