Logan Dixon scored a new career-high in an 80-65 win Saturday against Texas Lutheran.
The Lobos got off to an early 4-0 lead on back-to-back jumpers from
Brayden Fry and
B.J. Hollis.
TLU cut their deficit to 6-5 before a
Cole Avery three and
Tristen Licon jumper upped Sully's lead to 11-5 with 16:08 left in the first half.
The Lobos offense stayed hot with a 7-2 run aided by five points from
Cailen Bond for an 18-7 lead.
The Bulldogs were able to get back to within single-digits and kept it that way until
Logan Dixon's layup at 8:52 put Sully up 30-19.
A Licon three on their next possession gave the Lobos a 33-21 lead, their largest of the first half.
Sully would again lead by 12 on a
Giles Gilliam jumper with 5:00 left to go up 40-28.
TLU responded with a 9-2 run to trim the Lobo lead to 42-37 with 2:01 left in the first half.
Licon added the final basket of the half with a triple for a 45-37 lead at the break.
Licon started scoring in the second half with a jumper in the paint to put the Lobos ahead 47-37 for the start of a 6-2 run. After a Texas Lutheran field goal, Fry and Licon responded with a jumper and three-pointer respectively for a 52-39 lead just 1:38 into the second half.
The Bulldogs answered with a field goal to get back within single-digits. Sully used a 5-0 run for a 57-44 lead with 12:44 remaining and would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Up 11, the Lobos used the next 5:49 to extend their lead to 68-51 with 6:17 left.
Jake Lopez accounted for seven of the points and Dixon added four.
Sully's largest lead of the game came with 1:17 left on an
Aldon Johnson free throw for a score of 78-60.
TLU and the Lobos traded baskets in the final minute as Sully went wire-to-wire in the 80-65 win.
Dixon's career-high 18 points came on 8-15 shooting. He added four rebounds and two assists.
Licon scored 17 on 7-9 from the floor with a team-high six rebounds and tied a team-best three assists.
Lopez was also in double-digit scoring with 11.
The Lobos improve their season mark to 3-2. The Bulldogs slide to 3-4.
Sully next travels to San Antonio Monday for a 4:00 p.m. tip against Trinity University.
