ALPINE- Sully turned in their best scoring total and highest three-point percentage of the season Saturday in a 75-52 win over University of Dallas at the Gallego Center.
The Lady Lobos started scoring with 8:42 left in the first on a
Jocelyne Roque jumper for a 2-0 lead.
Tied 2-2, Roque hit the second of two free throws for a 3-2 lead.
The Crusaders took their first lead on a jumper by Jules Oliveti at 7:40 for a 4-3 lead.
Sully took a 6-4 lead on their next possession on a three from
Maria Maldonado.
UDW tied the game 6-6, but the Lady Lobos then used a 9-1 run to break things open in the first. Maldonado broke the tie on her second three of the game.
Chandre Nunez added to the slim lead with a three for a 12-7 score. Nunez added a layup on the next trip down the floor before Roque added a free throw for a 15-7 lead with 2:22 left in the first.
Up 6, Maldonado added her third three of the first for an 18-9 lead.
The Anastas twins took over scoring for Sul Ross in the last two minutes of the first. Presley's three off an assist from Peyton put the Lady Lobos ahead 21-11. Peyton hit two free throws with just under a minute left to extend the lead to 12 and eventually finished Sully's first half scoring to put the lead back to 12.
A late Dallas three cut the lead for the Lady Lobos to 25-16 going to the second quarter.
Jessica Magallanes and
Kaylee Martinez scored four each while
Chandre Nunez added another bucket to start the second quarter on a 10-0 run and a 19 point lead.
Ashley Nunez knocked down a three just over a minute later to give Sully their largest first half lead of 20 with 3:53 left.
The Crusaders used a 14-5 run to end the first half and cut their deficit to 43-32 heading to the third.
Roque hit a jumper and
Presley Anastas a three-pointer to start the second half and gave the Lady Lobos a 48-32 lead.
Following a UDW free throw to cut it to 15, Sully's
Chandre Nunez added six more points as part of an 8-0 run for a 58-35 with 5:20 left in the third.
Dallas ended the third on an 11-4 run but Sully still owned a 62-46 lead heading to the final quarter.
Runs to start quarters proved to be a habit with nine unanswered to start the fourth.
Teresa Quintana started the run with a three-pointer for her only bucket of the game.
Presley Anastas added a jumper before back-to-back jumpers from Magallanes put Sully up 71-46 with 4:37 left as the Lady Lobos rolled to a 75-52 win.
Their 75-point offensive output and 44.4% shooting from beyond the arc were both season-highs.
Chandre Nunez finished with a team-high 17 points on 8-14 shooting and 1-2 from three. She added four assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Magallanes added 14 points and three rebounds.
Maldonado and
Presley Anastas scored nine and eight respectively and each added five assists and three rebounds.
Sully evens their season mark to 2-2 while the Crusaders fall to 1-2.
The Lady Lobos next play host to Western New Mexico University Monday with a 5:30 tip at the Gallego Center.
