NEWBERG, Oregon- Sul Ross men's basketball opened their 2019-2020 season Tuesday with a 93-76 loss to George Fox University.

After a Conner Dawson layup to tie things 2-2, the Bruins used a 7-0 run to lead 9-2.

B.J. Hollis responded on the next possession with a three-pointer, but George Fox responded with five unanswered to take a 14-5 lead with 15:53 left in the first half.

Hollis' second three of the game, combined with a Cailen Bond dunk and layup resulted in a quick 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 14-12.

The Bruins would hold the lead for the remainder of the first half and extend it 33-20 with 6:53 left in the first.

After a layup and free throw after the foul by Aldon Johnson, Tristen Licon went 1-2 from the line to make it a 37-32 game.

George Fox responded with a three-pointer, but it was answered by another Hollis three to keep it a five point deficit with 2:10 left in the first.

Hollis then went to the line on the next possession and sank both to make it a one score game at 40-37.

Down five with 32 seconds left, Jake Lopez made the second of two free throws for a 42-38 Bruins lead at the half.

Down seven early in the second half, the Lobos could only twice cut the deficit to five as George Fox led the entire way and defeated Sully 93-76.

Hollis led all Lobos with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Junior Logan Dixon added 14 points on 7-17 shooting and five rebounds in his debut.

Licon was also in double digits with 13 points and five rebounds, and three assists.

Sully falls to 0-1 on the season and the Bruins move to 3-1.

The Lobos are back in action Friday, November 22 when they take on #20 Whitman College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CST in Forest Grove, OR.
