ALPINE- Volleyball improved in each set Saturday but ultimately fell in three to McMurry at the Gallego Center.
Scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23 in favor of the War Hawks.
McMurry opened up with a 6-0 run in the first set.
A 7-3 Lady Lobos run was capped by a
Jordan Scherer kill to cut the deficit to 10-7.
The War Hawks proceeded to go on a 9-1 run for a 19-8 lead.
Sully answered back with a 7-2 run with three kills by
Annika Canaba and one apiece from
Katelyn Easley and
Autumn Kilpatrick to fight back to within six at 21-15.
McMurry finished the set on a 4-1 run and took the set 25-17.
Set two saw 10 ties and five lead changes through 34 points as both sides were tied 17-17.
McMurry finished down the stretch with a 7-3 run to take the 25-20 set two win.
The Lady Lobos first lead of set three came at 10-9 on a Canaba kill. That was the second point of a 5-0 run that put the Lady Lobos up 13-9.
Sully played evenly with the War Hawks and held the lead until McMurry tied it up at 22-22.
A War Hawks attack error put the Lady lobos up 22-23, but the War Hawks finished on a 3-0 run to take set three and the match.
Canaba tied a game-high 11 kills. She paired that with 8 assists and 10 digs.
Hannah Zly's double digit digs streak moved to 18 games as she notched a team high 11.
Kylee Davis led all Lady Lobos with 15 assists.
The Lady Lobos fall to 8-9 on the year and 1-7 in ASC play. McMurry improves to 12-6 and 3-4.
Sully next plays host to Concordia Saturday, October 12 at the Gallego Center.
