ABILENE- Double-doubles from
Annika Canaba and
Kylee Davis helped propel the Lady Lobos to a three-set sweep of Louisiana College on the final day of the second ASC crossover of the season.
Scores were 25-19, 26-24, and 25-8.
Set one saw the Lady Lobos with the first point, LC answered back for the tie, then a 4-0 Sully run for a 5-1 lead.
Jordan Scherer and
Asher Haack both had kills during the run.
Sul Ross extended their lead to six with the help of three-straight attack errors for a 16-10 lead.
The Lady Lobos largest lead of the set came at 22-14 on back-to-back kills by
Kyleigh Mulanax.
LC responded with a 4-0 run to cut their deficit in half to just four.
Sully was able to finish the set with a 3-1 run on an
Annika Canaba kill for a 25-19 set one win.
Set two saw a quick 2-0 Sully lead, before LC answered with a 4-1 run for their first lead of the match at 4-3.
Sully used a pair of 3-0 runs to tie the game and eventually take the lead. Their first run saw a kill each from
Katelyn Easley, Scherer, and Canaba to tie things 9-9. After a quick 2-0 run from the Wildcats, back-to-back kills from Canaba and an attack error put Sully ahead again 12-11.
The Lady Lobos used a 5-1 run to break a 12-12 tie with two kills from Canaba and one from Haack for a 17-13 lead.
LC eventually used a 5-0 run to erase a four point deficit and take a 21-20 lead.
Sully quickly answered with an Easley kill and an attack error to go back up 22-21.
There were two more ties down the stretch, but back-to-back LC attack errors gave the Lady Lobos a 26-24 set two win.
Sully started set three off strong with a 4-0 run and took command from start to finish.
LC never got to within more than three early and trailed by as many as 11. Sully finished off the Wildcats with a 7-0 run for a 25-8 win in set three to get the sweep.
Canaba followed up a career-high 30 kills yesterday with a double-double of 15 kills and 10 assists.
Kylee Davis also contributed a double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs.
Sully finishes the crossover with a 2-1 record to move to 10-12 on the year and 3-9 in ASC play.
The Lady Lobos next play Saturday, October 26 against Howard Payne in Brownwood.
