BROWNWOOD-
Annika Canaba's sixth triple-double of the season helped propel the Lady Lobos to a four set conference win over the YellowJackets Saturday.
Scores were 25-17, 17-25, 25-15, and 25-15.
Sully took their first lead of the first set at 3-2 on a
Stephanie Diaz service ace.
After leading 4-3, the Lady Lobos would fall behind or remain tied until they took their next lead at 11-10 on a kill by
Annika Canaba. Sully extended their lead to 14-10 as they finished a 5-0 run.
HPU used a quick 3-0 run to bring the deficit to one, but the Lady Lobos answered back with their own 4-0 run for a 18-13 lead.
Jordan Scherer and
Asher Haack supplied kills and
Cielo Iniguez had a service ace during the run.
The YellowJackets mounted a 4-0 run to bring the Sully lead to just one again, but the Lady Lobos ended the set on a 7-0 run to take it 25-17. Canaba totaled three kills and a service ace during the run.
Kylee Davis also had an ace and
Katelyn Easley had a kill.
Down 2-0 in set two, a 4-0 Sully run gave them their first lead of the set at 4-2.
HPU immediately took the lead on a 3-0 run. The Lady Lobos were able to tie the game twice, but the YellowJackets never trailed again after 6-6 and took the set 25-17.
Sully responded quickly in set three with a 5-0 run to start. Canaba totaled two more kills to go with three HPU attack errors.
The Lady Lobos never trailed or allowed a tie in the third set and took it 25-15.
The first 17 points of set four saw four ties and three lead changes.
Sully used a 3-0 run with two more Canaba kills and an attack error to open up an early 5-2 lead.
The YellowJackets answered with a 7-3 run to take a 9-8 lead. It would prove to be their final lead of the set.
Easley immediately tied the game before Scherer used back-to-back kills as part of a 4-0 run for a 12-9 lead.
The Lady Lobos would never trail again as their offense exploded and outscored HPU 13-6 the remainder of the way for a 25-15 set four win to take the match in four sets.
Canaba's sixth triple-double included a game-high 18 kills to go with 19 assists and 13 digs.
Kylee Davis totaled a game-high 24 assists and added 12 digs for a double-double.
Sully improves to 11-12 on the season and 4-9 in ASC play. The YellowJackets are 2-23 and 0-14.
The Lady Lobos conclude their regular season in Abilene with meetings against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry October 31 and November 1.
