SHERMAN- The Sul Ross Lady Lobo volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches in day one of the Austin College Invitational Friday in Sherman.
Sul Ross shutout Paul Quin College in the opening match in scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21.
The Lady Lobos then fell in three straight sets to host Austin College by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 28-26.

In Friday's opening match, freshman middle hitter
Annika Canaba sported a double double 12 kills and 17 assists while junior libero
Hannah Zly recorded 13 digs.
The Lady Lobos put up a 5-0 run in the opening set that ended on a kill by
Jordan Scherer.
A kill by Canaba at the 12-8 mark gave Sully its largest lead of the game before Paul Quinn cut their deficit to to five at 13-8.
A faulty set by the opposition ended the game with the Lady Lobos claiming the 25-18 victory.
In the second set, back-to-back spikes by
Marlo Salazar gave Sul Ross a 7-5 advantage.
Salazar then notched her third kill of the set at 10-9 before a series of ties ensued.

Isabella Ruiz put the game at set point before an attack error by the opposition handed the Lady Lobos a 25-23 win heading to the match-deciding game.
Paul Quinn jumped out to a 6-1 run before Sul Ross fought its way to a one-point deficit off a hitting error.

Priscila Serrano gave the Lady Lobos a 12-8 lead as Sully maintained the advantage for the remainder of the game.
Scherer's match-point kill solidified the three-game sweep and match victory.

Sul Ross held tournament host Austin College close in the first part of the opening set of Friday's second match.
A Lady Lobo service error broke a 10-10 tie and swung the momentum to the Kangaroos who capitalized on a 14-5 run to claim the 25-15 win.
A pair of spikes by Ruiz in game two tied the set at four and five before Austin College took a brief go ahead.
Three kills by Canaba tied the outing at the 9-9, 10-10 and 11-11 marks before the Roos broke away on a series of short scoring bursts.
A bad set at the 17-16 mark gave Sul Ross its first of two leads for the game.
Canaba and
Autumn Kilpatrick then worked the front line for a block assist that kick-started a 3-0 run and ended on a kill by Ruiz at the 23-20 mark.
The Roos then pounced on a 5-0 run to take the 25-23 victory and a 2-0 lead heading to the final set.
A kill by Scherer began a 3-0 run for the Lady Lobos in game three.
Sully would go on to sport an 8-2 lead that was finished off with an ace by Zly.
Austin College recovered with a 7-0 run to tie the game at nine.
The Kanagroos would then hold several one-point leads down the stretch before another kill by Ruiz knotted the game at 17.
The two teams swapped leads through the remainder of the game.
Ruiz shouldered another kill for game-point at the 25-24 mark but the Roos answered with a kill by Austin College's Mayson Kennon for a 25-25 tie.
Ruiz broke the knot again setting up another game-point situation but two offensive miscues by the Lady Lobos led Austin College to the 28-26 win and the match victory.
Canaba nailed down her second double double with a team-best 14 kills and 16 assists. Ruiz posted 12 kills while
Kylee Davis supplied 16 assists.
Zly led the back line with 25 digs.
Sul Ross starts off the season at 1-1 while the Kangaroos improve to 5-1.
The Lady Lobos will close out the tournament Saturday against LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist in non-conference action.
First serves are slated for 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
