Cody Remore threw seven innings and yielded just three hits as the Sul Ross Lobos cruised to a 20-1 thumping of visiting Mary Hardin-Baylor in a three-game series opener Friday night.
Sully finished the game with a 20-hit payload while holding the Crusaders to five.
The Lobos opened up with a five-run bottom of the first.
A two-run single by
Ryan Almager scored
Joseph Sanchez, unearned, and
Wesley Moss or a 2-0 lead.
Jonathon Bigley then singled Almager across, unearned before
Guillermo Loera's two-run homer scored Bigley for a 5-0 Sul Ross advantage heading to the second.
The Cru notched their only run in the visitor half of the second before the Lobos saddled two more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Bigley's first of three sacrifice flies brought Moss across unearned before Almager scored on a single by Loera.
The home team then erupted with ten runs scored over the fourth and fifth to take a 17-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Moss scored on a sacrifice fly by Bigley before a double by
Gabriel Amaro in the seventh plated
Monty Maley.
Almager scored the final run of the contest off a sacrifice fly by Loera for the 20-1 Lobo victory.
The two teams will close out the series with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
