Box Score 5327

SAN ANTONIO- Trinity University exploded with 10 runs over the seventh and eighth innings to rally and beat visiting Sul Ross, 14-5 in a Thursday night contest that took more than four hours to finish.

The Lobos held the lead for the majority of the contest over the top-ranked Tigers.

A two-run homer in the top of the first by Jonathon Bigley scored Joseph Sanchez for an early 2-0 Sul Ross lead.

Trinity pulled to within one in the bottom of the second with a run scored before Bigley grounded into a double play that scored Wesley Moss, unearned, in the visitor fifth.

Sanchez then stole home in the same inning extending Sully's lead, 4-1.

A three-run, bottom of the fifth by the Tigers tied the game at four before Holden Simpson came across in the top of the sixth off a misfired throw to break the tie.

Trinity then erupted with eight runs in the seventh and added two more runs in the next inning and coasted to the 14-5 victory.

Freshman reliever Justin Holt was tagged with the loss as Sully went five deep into its bullpen.

The Lobos and Tigers will wind up their two-game stint with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
