PINEVILLE, La.- In a pair of games that were each decided by a one-run margin, Sul Ross and Louisiana College split a Saturday twin bill in Pineville.
The Wildcats claimed a 2-1 edging of the Lobos in game one.
Sul Ross then held on for a wild 10-9 victory in game two giving the Lobos the 2-1 series win.
Louisiana College posted the first run for either team in the bottom of the second of the opening contest.
The pitcher's duel continued until the sixth when the Wildcats scored another run for a 2-0 lead.
A sacrifice fly by
Joseph Sanchez scored
Austin Luna, unearned, in the top of the seventh but the Wildcats held Sully to a ground out with the next batter to seal the 2-1 victory.
Starter
Aaron Marquez was tagged with his first loss of the season after five innings of work.
The Andrews native yielded three hits but finished with four strike outs on the afternoon.
In game two, Sul Ross lit the board in their opening at-bat as
Ryan Almager scored on a triple by fellow senior
Jonathon Bigley.
Louisiana College then reeled in five runs in the bottom of the first to take a 5-1 lead.
An infield single in the top of the second by
Wesley Moss plated
Jacob Ochoa with
Guillermo Loera scoring, unearned, on the same play off a throwing error.
The Lobos took the go ahead in the next inning as Loera singled scoring Bigley and
Monty Maley.
A single by Moss in the same inning then scored Ochoa giving the visitors a 6-5 advantage.
Mike Munden would come across in the Sul Ross fifth to extend Sully's lead by two.
The Wildcats then knotted the game at seven in the bottom of the fifth before another throwing error in the top of the sixth scored Almager.
Maley then doubled Bigley across in the same inning before Loera reached on a fielder's choice scoring Maley for a 10-9 Lobo lead.
Louisiana College could not pull off the rally scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
The final three outs of the game came in consecutive order with a double play ground out and an unassisted ground out to Almager for the 10-9 Sul Ross victory.

Peyton Marett posted his second win of the season in relief while
Luis Payan recorded his first season save.
The Lobos improve to 15-10 on the season including a 9-3 mark in the ASC. The Wildcats drop to 14-5 and 4-5.
Sul Ross will host Hardin-Simmons in a three-game conference series next Thursday and Friday.
