ALPINE, Texas- In Thursday's quarterfinal round of the ASC Men's Championship Tournament, the Sul Ross State University Lobos defeated U.T. Tyler in an 86-77 decision ending the Patriots season with a 17-9 record. The Pack improves to 20-6.
The Lobos will face U.T Dallas at 7:30 Friday night in a semifinal bout. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist semifinal Saturday for the conference championship.
The Tigers and Yellow Jackets will square off at 5:00 p.m. Friday.

Tristen Licon accounted for a team-high 14 points and tied teammates
Caleb Thomasson and
B.J. Hollis with six rebounds.
The Patriots began the contest with a 7-2 run before a jumper in the paint by Thomasson tied the game at 11 with 12:38 remaining in the first half.
Thomasson then drained four straight free throws in two separate trips to the stripe to put Sully on top, 15-11.
Licon would cap a 6-0 run with a scoop shot at the 8:43 mark extending the Lobo lead to seven, 23-16.
Sul Ross went on to hold a nine-point advantage with a foul shot by Hollis at 3:58.
Conner Dawson nailed a three-point basket at :41 seconds for a 45-38 Lobo lead heading to the half.
Licon fired off a three-point bucket of his own at 14:30 and spread the lead to 15, 59-44 with 14:30 left in the second half.
The Patriots crept to within eight at 4:11 before narrowing their deficit to six at :42 seconds before Hollis was sent to the line and knocked down to free throws securing the 86-77 victory.
C.J. Ross and
Stephen Walker collected 13 points each while Thomasson and Hollis added 12 and 11 points respectively. Thomasson also posted a team-high six rebounds.
