WALLA WALLA, Washington- In the season opener Friday, Sul Ross Men's Basketball dropped a 97-61 decision to fourth-ranked Whitman College.

Tristen Licon and Stephen Walker led the effort with 15 points each while Conner Dawson supplied 11 points. Walker led rebounders with seven boards.

The Lobos held a tight lead for the first five minutes of the contest.

After snapping an 18-18 tie, the Blues ran away with a 16-point lead aided by a 7-0 run and went to the half up 54-35.

The Blues would post a pair of 37-point leads in the final minute and a half of the second half.

Sul Ross will face Pugent Sound Sunday in Tacoma, Washington. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. Pacific, 4:00 p.m. Central.
