SEGUIN- Another night of hot shooting propelled the Sul Ross men's basketball team to an 84-73 victory over Texas Lutheran University in the final day of the Bulldog Classic Wednesday in Seguin.

The Lobos are currently riding a six-game winning streak and improve to 8-4 on the season. Texas Lutheran drops to 4-5.

Sully tied its season best in shooting percentage at 57 percent or 33-58 from the floor in Wednesday's outing with the Bulldogs.

Sul Ross finished at 57 percent shooting in a 93-83 conference victory at Belhaven last Saturday.

Caleb Thomasson put the first points on the board 27 seconds into the ball game with a layup before Texas Lutheran responded with a 5-0 run.

Thomasson then hit a bank shot off the glass to tie the game at nine with 15:18 remaining in the first half.

Gary Ringo, JR nailed a three-pointer then followed up with a layup and a free throw at 13:32 giving the visitors a 15-11 advantage.

Tristen Licon then converted a long range jumper at 6:57 followed by another Thomasson layup at 4:56 for a 30-21 Sul Ross lead.

The Lobos then commenced on a 12-0 run ending with a scoop shot by Thomasson putting the Lobos ahead, 42-24 at the 34 second mark.

Texas Lutheran cut the Sul Ross lead to 16 with a pair of free throws by Nathan Josephs and trailed 42-26 heading to the half.

Sully would sport two, 18-point leads early in the second half including a three-pointer by B.J. Hollis at 16:34 which gave the Lobos a 50-32 lead.

A converted jumper by Thomasson spread the gap, 60-37 with 13:33 left in the game.

Sul Ross would go on hold its largest lead of 24 off a three-point shot by Ringo at the 9:12 mark.

The Lobos never lost the momentum allowing the Bulldogs to pull within 11 as TLU's Jackson Willoughby scored the final basket on a layup with 19 seconds left in the contest.

For the game, Thomasson finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Ringo and Licon picked up 15 and 12 points respectively while Stephen Walker collected a team-best five assists.

Sul Ross will close out 2017 in Austin against Beloit College on December 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Concordia University.
