SAN ANTONIO- Sul Ross men's basketball (2-2) fell 97-85 to host Trinity University (4-2) in a Tuesday nightcap in San Antonio.

Caleb Thomasson collected his first double double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Both team traded buckets over the first ten minutes of the opening half before the Tigers sprouted a 10-0 run to take a 36-24 lead with 4:16 left before the half.

Trinity ended the half with a 4-0 sprint to take a commanding 41-26 advantage to the break.

The home team held the reigns in the second half and extended the margin to 21 at 12:59.

Trinity's Danny Ravara nailed a floater from six feet away giving the Tigers a 23-point lead at 11:06.

Sul Ross slipped to a pair of 27-point deficits but managed to close the gap and ended the game with a layup by Aaron Anderson for the 97-85 final.

Brock Anders saddled 16 points in the effort while freshman Tristen Licon added 15.

The Lobos finished at 29-of-62 shooting from the field or 47 percent.

Sul Ross will open ASC competition Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. bout at U.T. Dallas.
