LUBBOCK- Three Lobos scored double figures as the Sul Ross men's basketball team (2-1) dropped a 79-65 decision to NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian University (2-3) Tuesday night at the Rip Griffin Center.
Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly/Sands) led Sul Ross scorers with 14 points in the effort.
The Chaps started the contest on a 5-0 run before a layup by
Stephen Walker (Houston/Taylor) ended an 8-3 Lobo attack and tied the game at eight.
Brock Anders (Keller/KHS) broke the knot with a jumper from the elbow with 16:51 left in the first half.
Lubbock Christian quickly recovered and went on to secure a 10-point lead at the 9:10 mark.
The Chaps ran away with the lead and went to intermission up 42-29.
LCU held their largest lead of the game with a 59-36 advantage at 14:56 in the second half.
The Lobos could pull no closer than 14 twice as the Chaps solidified the 79-65 final.
B.J. Hollis (Brady/BHS) and
C.J. Ross (Austin/Akins) sported 11 and 10 points respectively.
Sul Ross will travel to San Antonio on November 28 for non-conference action at Trinity University.
