IRVING- Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly/Sands) recorded his third double double of the season as visiting Sul Ross fell to University of Dallas, 77-65 Saturday in Irving.
Rocky Feliciano (El Paso/Hanks) posted a team high 17 points in the effort while Brock Anders (Keller/KHS) and Jacob Dawson (Amarillo/AHS) totaled 12 and 11 points respectively.
Mike Huffman (El Paso/Eastwood) supplied 11 rebounds.
The Lobos were ice cold outside the arc converting just one of 24 and finished at 24 for 71 in general shooting.
Sul Ross took the lead at the 16:15 mark, first half, as Dawson connected from midrange to give the Lobos an 8-7 lead.
Dawson nailed another shot from the elbow at 15:44 to put Sully up 10-7 before Patrick Mound (Cedar Park/Coleman) hit the only three-pointer for Sul Ross of the afternoon at 12:39 to give the visiting Lobos a 15-9 advantage.
The Crusaders slowly regained momentum and took the go ahead at 4:17 with a pair of foul shots by Prince Giadolor.
Dallas would go on to sport two, six-point leads before the Lobos narrowed the margin down to two off a layup by Feliciano with Sul Ross trailing 33-31 at intermission.
The Crusaders never lost the lead in the second period and would post several double figure leads before settling in for the 77-65 final.
At 2-6 on the season, Sul Ross will have a midweek bout with University of the Southwest on Wednesday in Hobbs, NM.
