HOUSTON-Sunday was a rough start to the season for the Sul Ross men's basketball team as the visiting Lobos dropped a lopsided 94-61 decision to the University of St. Thomas.
Sully shot just 18 of 48 from the field against the Celts. The Lobos also struggled from the foul line connecting on 17 of 33 at 52 percent.
Newcomers Jacob Caloss (Poth/PHS) and Jacob Dawson (Amarillo/AHS) led Lobo scorers with 18 and 12 points in the effort.
Following a 41-32 lead at the break the Celts finished off the Lobos by a 53-29 margin in the second half and coasted to the 94-61 victory.
Sul Ross starts the season off at 0-1 and will visit Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian November 23 and 24.
The Lobos will then host U.T. Permian Basin on Friday, November 27.
