PLAINVIEW-Rocky Feliciano (El Paso/Hanks) and Xavier Webb (Riverton, WY./RHS) led with 14 points each but the Lobos were unable to overcome a cold night's shooting as Wayland Baptist ran passed Sul Ross, 85-64 in non conference play Monday in Plainview.

Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly/Sands) was the only other Lobo to finish with double digits scoring 10 points in the effort.

Thomasson also led rebounders with seven boards.

As a team Sul Ross shot in a slump hitting just 19 of 52 shots from the field at 37 percent. The Lobos were able to connect on 20 of 26 shots from the free throw line at 77 percent. Feliciano converted a perfect eight for eight from the stripe.

The Pioneers posted three players in double figures led by Robert Waters' 21 points.

Turnovers bit the Lobos in the heel as Sul Ross coughed up the ball 32 times for the evening.

Sul Ross never held the lead but was able to pull to within one a handful of times in the opening  half.

Wayland was able to sustain a hot shooting streak down the stretch of the first period and went to intermission ahead by a ten-point, 35-25 lead.

The Pioneers turned up the heat in the second half hitting 18 of 32 from the floor including six of 12 from long range.

Wayland finished the contest knocking down nearly half of their three point shots hitting 10 of 23 from beyond the arc while the Lobos mustered six of 20 from three-point distance at 30 percent.

The Lobos fall to 0-2 on the season while the Pioneers bump their mark to 6-1.

Sully will face NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian University Tuesday night in Lubbock before opening the home season Friday against another NCAA DII opponent as U.T.

Permian Basin visits the Gallego Center.

Tuesday's tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. while Friday's contest is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
