Mike Bond

Mike Bond has been the Sports Information Director at Sul Ross State since Jan. 3, 2025.  He has 36.5 years of experience at all three NCAA Divisions and NAIA. He is the main contact for men's basketball, men's & women's cross country, men's soccer, softball, men's & women's tennis and volleyball.

Bond was the Co-Sports Information Director at Briar Cliff (Iowa) from Mar. 15, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025.

Bond was coordinator of sports information and marketing at Cal State Monterey Bay (2005-06) and sports information director at Graceland (2006-07), Finlandia (2016-23) and The University of Texas Permian Basin (2023-24).  He has also had assistant positions at Concordia Ann Arbor, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Montana State Billings, Oakland, San Francisco State, Texas-Pan American and Tiffin.
 
Among his accomplishments are working with the Olympic Track and Field committees of four countries (British West Indies, Nigeria, Surinam and the U.S.) that had Eastern Michigan athletes competing in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, director of media relations at the 2010 NCAA Division I Great Lakes Cross Country Regional Championship, tri-meet director of the 2003 RMAC/NCAA Division II West Regional Wrestling Championships,  tournament director for the 2014 NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regional for wrestling and having all three of his wrestling media guides at San Francisco State ranked among the top 20 in the country by Amateur Wrestling News and among the top six in the country by Wrestling USA.
 
In addition, from 2004 to 2015 Bond ran the Independents Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA).  It was a non-profit organization that awarded team and individual honors for those NCAA Division II schools competing as independents.
 
A native of Ypsilanti, Mich., Bond attended Macomb Community College where he earned one letter in tennis.  He has a B.S. in History from Eastern Michigan and a M.B.A. in Sports Management from Tiffin.
 
Bond is single and resides in Alpine, Texas.  His father, Bill, was a drag strip racer in the midwest during the early 1950's.
