Dr. Jessica Velasco has served as an assistant professor of political science and public administration at Sul Ross State since fall 2020. She has been the faculty athletics representative since fall 2020.
From fall 2019 to fall 2020 she served as an instructor of political science and public administration. Prior from fall 2018 to fall 2019, Velasco as a lecturer of political science and public administration.
In the summer of 2018, she was a graduate teaching assistant at Valdosta State University and from spring 2016 to spring 2018 she served as an adjunct instructor at Sul Ross State.
She also held position of access and achievement scholarship coordinator (spring 2016-June 2018) and Lobo Days coordinator (spring 2015).
From June 2007 to June 2010, Velasco served as the resident director at the University of Denver. Prior to that, she had another stint at Sul Ross State, serving as a counselor from Sept. 2005 to June 2007.
Velasco also spent time at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where she was a program coordinator for student activities (Feb. 2005-Aug. 2005) and coordinator of residence life (May 2002-Feb. 2005).
She earned her bachelor of arts in political science from Texas A&M University in Dec. 1998 while she obtained a master of science in educational administration from Texas A&M in 2001.
Velasco obtained her doctor of public administration from Valdosta University in May 2020.
