Xavier Webb

Xavier Webb is in his fifth season as head coach of Sul Ross State men's basketball team.  He is 41-83 during his tenure

Webb has taken the Lobos to two American Southwest Conference tournaments, had 20 all-conference selections and produced 41 all-conference academic honorees.

In 2020-21, he saw two players earn ASC individual awards: Tristan Licon (West Division Defensive Player of the Year) and Carson Perkins (West Division Freshman of the Year).  In addition, Licon was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region second team.

During the 2019-2020 season, Webb was named the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Men’s Small College Assistant Coach of the Year.

He spent his first two seasons as an assistant coach at Wayland Baptist University following his graduation from Sul Ross State University in 2017.

In his first season, Webb aided the Pioneers to a 25-10 record, runner-up in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, and an elite eight appearance in the NAIA national tournament.

His second season at WBU ended with a SAC regular-season conference championship, 24-8 overall record and a back-to-back NAIA national tournament appearance.

Xavier is a former Lobo player as he transferred in from Central Wyoming College. Webb accumulated an impressive portfolio in his two years in Alpine, both off and on the court.

In addition to being named cum laude upon graduation, he earned ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team and Academic All-Conference honors in 2017 while also being named a 2017 recipient of the ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor.

Webb was also a dean's list scholar at SRSU and has been involved in a variety of community projects mentoring youth in basketball and life decision skills along with assisting in events with the elderly and disabled.
 
He was a member and starter of the 2015-16 ASC West Division championship team as a junior and earned All-West Division honors as a senior under the leadership of Clif Carroll.

As a junior, he helped guide SRSU to its first ASC West Division title in more than 10 years.

His .439 three-point field goal percentage ranked Webb fourth in the league in 2015-16 and provided the shooting octane for a 16-10 overall finish, 10-4 in the ASC.

His freshman year at Sheridan College resulted in a semifinal appearance at the Region 9 tournament and a 27-6 overall record.

At CWC, Webb helped lead his team to a Region 9 quarterfinal appearance with a 19-10 record. As a sophomore, he led his team with a .438 three-point field goal percentage while averaging 10 points per game.
