Michael Vite

Michael Vite starts his second year as Defensive Coordinator of the Lobos.

Vite served as linebacker's and special teams coach at Florida A&M University for three seasons before arriving in Alpine.

His linebacker corps led the teams in tackles in 2017.

While at FAMU, Vite rebuilt the team academic standard in facilitating the graduation of more players than in previous seasons.

Vite's linebackers led the team with the highest GPA.

From 2013 to 2015, Vite served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Texas Southern University.

He worked with TSU staff to develop academic strategies to improve team academic progress rate (APR).

In 2014, Vite's defense was ranked No. 2 conference-wide and No. 1 in pass defense. His 2014 teams also held a conference-best in third down conversions limiting opponent offenses to 31 percent.

Before TSU, Vite had stops in The Apprentice School (Newport News, Va./2008-12, head football coach), Guilford College (Greensboro, NC/2006-08, Defensive Coordinator), Morgan State University (Baltimore, Md./2005-06, Defensive Coorindator), Bacone College (Muskogee, Ok./2004-05, Defensive Coordinator), Murray State University (Murray, Ky./2001-04, Defensive Coordinator), Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, Il./2000-01, Defensive Coordinator and Interim Head Coach) and Southern University (Baton Rouge, La./1994-00, Defensive and Special Teams Coordinator).
