Lobos Fight To The End

ALPINE, Texas – It was 90 minutes of hard work as the Sul Ross State University women's soccer team (0-1-1) lost 1-0 to Adams State (2-0), Saturday at Lobo Soccer Field.

Freshman Kat Graves made several amazing saves to keep Adams State off the scoreboard.  Sul Ross State put pressure on the Grizzlies with three shots in a three minute span that were blocked at the last minute.

ASU managed to get on the scoreboard with 7:09 left in the game.  The Lobos had two opportunities that just missed in the final minute.

Sul Ross State had 10 shots with three on goal, one corner kick and were called for six fouls.  Graves finished with a career-high 11 saves.

Adams State had 21 shots with 12 on goal, five corner kicks and were called for eight fouls.

"Today was a tough 1-0 loss, especially giving up the goal in the final seven minutes. We had our moments and opportunities, but this game is often decided by one moment. We've talked about learning how to go grab games when the opportunity is there, and that's the next step for this group. The effort was there; now we have to learn from it, move forward, and be ready for the next one."

Sul Ross State heads to Boca Raton, Fla., Wednesday, Sept. 2 to play Lynn.  The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., EST
