Binder And Escalante Earn LSC Scholar-Athlete Award

ALPINE, Texas – Joseph Binder (Baseball) and Ariana Escalante (Women's Basketball & Cross Country) received the Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2025-26 school year.
 
Each academic year, the conference presents a Scholar-Athlete award to one male and one female student-athlete who is a member of the graduating class at each LSC member institution. Award recipients are selected by their campus and represent outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. Honorees must have participated for at least two years in their sport.
 
Binder (majoring in Kinesiology with an Education Teaching Certificate) had a solid season for the Lobos.  He had eight doubles and 10 home runs, scored 38 runs, drove in 41 runs, drew 26 walks, stole 14 bases and batted .290.  Binder was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
Binder had 13 multiple hit and eight multiple RBI games, ranked among the Top 10 in single-season school history for home runs and walks and tied for seventh in the LSC for home runs.
 
Escalante (majoring in Biology) had a strong year for SRSU across two sports.  In basketball, she averaged 6.96 points and 5.04 rebounds per game and shot 70.2% from the line. Escalante had at least one steal in all but six games and was second in the LSC for minutes per game (36.36).

In cross country, she ran in all but one of the four meets and was the number one runner each time.  Escalante finished fourth at the OLLU Classic (Oct. 4), the first individual Top 10 finish since 2021.  At that meet, her time of 24:41.10 was the second fastest 6K in program history.  Escalante was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
