Lobos Duke It Out With Rambelles

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Sul Ross State University softball team (5-25 Lone Star Conference, 7-30) lost 4-0 and 9-3 to #14 Angelo State (23-5 LSC, 34-9), Sunday afternoon at Mayer Field.

Game-1
In the second inning, with one out, senior Elizabeth Clemente and junior Valeria Aguilar singled.  Angelo State got a pop up and a fielder's choice to end the inning.  The Rambelles scored two runs each in the third and fourth innings to take control.

For Sul Ross State, freshman Jaclyn Pate (2-12) gave up six hits, four runs, walked three and struck out one in six innings.

For Angelo State, Maddison Ruiz (9-4) threw a three-hitter with a walk and six strikeouts in seven innings.

Game-2
In the night cap, the Lobos struck first.  A walk and an error put junior Samantha Bustos at third and Aguilar at first with two outs in the first inning.

Freshman Baylie Savage smacked an inside the park home run to make it 3-0, SRSU.  ASU remained off the scoreboard until scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Angelo State sealed the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

For Sul Ross State, freshman Addison Castilleja (3-6) gave up eight hits, six runs, walked four and struck out three in five innings.

For Angelo State, Addy Ewing (13-0) gave up three hits and struck out one in five innings.

Sul Ross State stays on the road, Saturday, Apr. 18, taking on Western New Mexico.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m., Mountain Time
